DofE Expedition Training
The DofE Expedition Training is a course designed for all those interested in the role of an expedition leader or assessor. Participants will learn about the significance of expeditions in the DofE program. They will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to become DofE expedition trainers and assessors.
This training is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as part of further education for pedagogical staff.
The training program includes the following topics:
- Information about the DofE program
- Philosophy and structure of the DofE program
- Basic principles of DofE
- Conditions for DofE expeditions
- Leading DofE expeditions
- Basics of experiential education
- Group work and introduction to reflection
- Safety on expeditions
- Roles of DofE expedition trainers and assessors
- Functions and support of the National Center
Training format and course
The training is conducted in a combined form.
E-learning
- Duration: 45 minutes.
- The e-learning course consists of 2 lessons that can be completed gradually, allowing the study to be spread over several days.
- Each participant will receive access to the e-learning course after submitting their registration for the training, no later than 7 days before the face-to-face training date.
- If a participant registers less than a week before the training starts, they will receive login details within 24 hours.
- E-learning must be completed before the start of the training. Completing the e-learning is necessary to receive the certificate.
Face-to-face Training
- Duration: 8 hours.
- The face-to-face training is conducted in a seminar format with a maximum of 15 participants.
- Detailed information about the face-to-face training will be provided to each participant no later than 7 days before the training date.
What will the training provide?
After completing the training, you will be able to prepare a group of young people aged 14-24 for an expedition and ensure that the expedition meets the requirements of the DofE program, is safe, and develops the participants.
Who is the training for?
The training is intended for all potential expedition leaders, i.e., those interested in the role of trainer and assessor of adventurous expeditions. Candidates should ideally be outdoor-oriented and have experience with self-sufficient travel to pass on these skills to DofE participants.
Training Participation Requirements
- To obtain a certificate, it is necessary to complete the entire training – both the e-learning and face-to-face parts.
- Participants agree to the use of their personal data for DofE needs when registering for the training.
NOTICE:
- The training fee must be paid at least 5 days before the training date. If this is not done, the participant will not be able to attend the training.
- If a participant cancels their attendance 3 or fewer days before the start of the training, a cancellation fee equal to the full training fee will be charged.
- Participants must register using their name and fill in their email and position within the organization when purchasing the training.
Additional Information
- The certificate is linked to the name and is non-transferable within the school/organization. If the staff member leaves the organization, another employee or volunteer must be trained. The certificate is transferable with the trained person to another Local DofE Center.
- Participation in the training is a prerequisite for starting the DofE program unless otherwise agreed.
- The National DofE Center reserves the right to cancel the training due to an insufficient number of participants or the illness of the trainer, whose presence cannot be replaced. In such a case, a replacement date will be set.
